Further thoughts on #Slutwalk
Really interesting discussion with my year 12 class about Slutwalk today. One girl said she and her family go back to India each year and she knows not to wear certain things/cover up because “it’s a reality and you have to look after your safety”. Very interesting chat with them - most in total support of the cause and loved the slogan, why teach, “don’t get raped”? Instead teach “DON’T RAPE”.
The young men in the room were fascinated by how enraged the young women were and many stayed behind to talk about it.
This was also the lesson where we desensitised ourselves to the word cunt in ‘Atonement’.
100 minutes well spent, I say. Sluts, cunt, rape… man, we really worked hard.
